Urdaibai
Biótopo de San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Entre el cabo de Matxitxako y el pueblo de Bakio existe un tramo litoral en el que la tierra y el mar entablan batallas en las que el mar muestra su poderío en cuevas y arcos, erosionando areniscas, y la tierra vence dejando islotes de duras calizas arrecifales. Este modelo de erosión dibuja un paisaje de belleza única, lo que unido al interés histórico de la zona, han hecho merecer a ésta su catalogación como Biótopo Protegido.

Urdaibai Urdaibai is one of the natural treasures of Biscay and is unique in the Basque Country. The entire area forms part of the Busturialdea region, and it contains a number of different habitats of great ecological wealth and irreplaceable value. From the sides of Mount Oiz rises the Oka River, which below Gernika becomes a ría which stretches twelve kilometres down to the sea, where it forms a wide estuary, with extensive sand banks.
